fractures<\/strong>.<\/li><li>Associated with other signs of basilar skull fracture like <strong>Raccoon&#8217;s eyes<\/strong> (periorbital ecchymosis), hemotympanum, CSF circulation), cervical spine stabilization.<\/li><li><strong>Neurosurgical consultation<\/strong>: For management of the underlying skull fracture.<\/li><li><strong>Antibiotics<\/strong>: Prophylactic treatment to prevent infections such as meningitis.<\/li><li><strong>Tetanus prophylaxis<\/strong>: If indicated.<\/li><li><strong>Monitoring and treatment<\/strong>: For potential complications like brain injury, CSF leak, and meningitis.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2>Complications<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul><li><strong>Infection<\/strong>: Meningitis, brain abscess.<\/li><li><strong>Cranial nerve injury<\/strong>: Especially VII (facial nerve) with longitudinal fractures.<\/li><li><strong>CSF Leak<\/strong>: Otorrhea or rhinorrhea, risk of meningitis.<\/li><li><strong>Hearing loss<\/strong>: Due to damage to the middle ear or auditory nerve.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2>Prognosis<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul><li><strong>Variable<\/strong>: Depends on extent of injury and presence of additional intracranial injuries or complications.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Note<\/em>: Battle&#8217;s sign may not appear immediately after injury, so a high index of suspicion should be maintained in the appropriate
