rare cases involve <strong>primary teeth<\/strong>.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2>Clinical Features<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul><li><strong>Uncommon<\/strong> lesion but may be <strong>more prevalent<\/strong> than reported.<\/li><li><strong>More common in males<\/strong> than females.<\/li><li><strong>Age range:<\/strong> 12\u201365 years; most patients are <strong>relatively young<\/strong>.<\/li><li><strong>No racial predilection<\/strong>.<\/li><li>Usually a <strong>solitary, slow-growing lesion<\/strong> that may eventually <strong>displace teeth<\/strong>.<\/li><li>The involved tooth is <strong>vital<\/strong> and often <strong>painful<\/strong>.<\/li><li><strong>Pain<\/strong> varies among patients; can be relieved by <strong>anti-inflammatory drugs<\/strong>.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2>Imaging Features<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3>Location<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Predominantly occurs in the <strong>mandible (78%)<\/strong>.<\/li><li>Commonly forms on the roots of a <strong>premolar or first molar (90%)<\/strong>.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3>Periphery<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Appears as a <strong>well-defined radiopacity<\/strong> with a <strong>cortical border<\/strong>.<\/li><li>Surrounded by a <strong>well-defined radiolucent band<\/strong> just inside the cortical border.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3>Internal Structure<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul><li><strong>Mixed radiolucent-radiopaque lesion<\/strong>; <strong>rarely recurs<\/strong> after <strong>enucleation<\/strong>.<\/li><li><strong>Simple excision<\/strong> and <strong>extraction of the associated tooth<\/strong> are usually sufficient.<\/li><li>The <strong>gold-standard treatment<\/strong>: <strong>total curettage<\/strong> and <strong>surgical excision<\/strong> of the lesion followed by <strong>extraction of affected tooth structures<\/strong>.
